The end of an amazing year is almost upon us....

2019 has been an incredible year for EDR and we have certainly surpassed our expectations for where we thought the business would be some 18 months after starting. Where to begin the Christmas round up?

Firstly, my sincere appreciation to the large number of consultants whose support has been incredible. We’ve got a very straight forward and transparent approach to how we work, and this has resulted in a large number of people wanting to be part of our team. Numbers continue to grow steadily, which is excellent.

I think the landscape will dramatically change in 2020, particularly led by legislative changes in the UK for self-employed individuals and those with their own private service companies. The ultimate disclosure of how consultancies price work will have to be exposed and this will undoubtedly leave a bitter taste in the mouths of many, both at the top and bottom of the supply chain. So, whilst EDR may not come under the same legal framework, we are already clear with all parties how we run the business, how we set margins and how price work. This is certainly winning us favour all round.

Secondly, the backing from clients has been extraordinary.  The honesty surrounding how we conduct ourselves has seen a plethora of contracts and MSAs come our way from operators both big and small. Word is certainly getting round the market and has seen us support operations in over 19 countries on 42 work programs. That’s not bad considering the stiff competition and broader geographical spread of some of the established consultancies and agencies in the market.

2020 looks to be an interesting year for the business as a whole and there will no doubt be a few consolidations amongst operators and service companies, especially as the industry continues to look for efficiencies and cost savings across the board. Exploration programs must continue in this climate if we are to replenish reserves and maintain energy stability. We hope to play our part in this with a broader service offering.

So, as we end 2019, I would like to personally thank those who’ve supported our business, in whatever capacity and we very much look forward to more exciting times ahead. Our business is in great shape (with no debt, or leverage) and we have an attractive pipeline and order book for the year ahead.

Lastly, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.
